There are also numerous articles about all natural skin care that are available in the internet, books, magazines and other forms of media. Some of these skin care tips are highly-influenced by the product they are endorsing that they can be misleading.

As people grow old, they start to feel the changes in their skin. It no longer has the elasticity it used to have. It probably has discoloration and is becoming more translucent. Constant exposure to the sun and other harmful elements leaves the skin damaged. It is true that people are bound to experience aging but there are ways, like all natural skin care, where those manifestations can be reduced or slowed down.

All natural skin care solutions can be as simple as protecting your skin from the sun. You should avoid being exposed to the sun, especially between 10 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon, as these are the high-intensity hours. If being exposed cannot be avoided, then you have to cover up and use any protection against the sun. For instance, wear long-sleeved clothing as opposed to sleeveless tops when you know you are going to be under direct sunlight. Using umbrellas and wide-brimmed hats has also been a useful way to filter the sun’s rays. Most important of all, make it a habit to wear sunscreen all the time. Wearing sunscreen should not only be limited to outdoors as sunlight passes through glass and clothing and other materials.

Nutrition also has a big implication on a person’s skin health. People should definitely watch what they consume if they want to maintain the youthful appearance of their skin. It can be as simple as avoiding a particular kind of food if you know it tends to lead to breakouts or having oilier skin. Having fresh fruits and vegetables has long been proven to be good for the skin because of having antioxidants. Aside from these, eating legumes, nuts and whole grain snacks has also been known to improve the skin’s condition. Weirdly enough, consumption of full-fat milk and meat have been found out to hasten the wrinkling of the skin. Watching what you eat is one of the primary ways in all natural skin care.

Healthcare is the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well being through the services offered by the medical, nursing, and allied health professions. Health care embraces all the goods and services designed to promote health, including “preventive, curative and palliative interventions, whether directed to individuals or to populations”. The organized provision of such services may constitute a health care system. The Health Service or cooperation across the Social Services as in Shared Care. Before the term health care became popular, English-speakers referred to the Health and spoke of the treatment and prevention of illness and disease.

Medical Home approach is the premise that patient-centered care requires a fundamental shift in the relationship between patients and their primary care physicians. There must be a higher degree of personalized care coordination, access beyond the acute care episode, and identification of key medical and community resources to meet the patients’ needs. However, the widespread adoption of information technology for care management and quality improvement along with adequate payment methods are essential. In the long run, the Medical Home is likely to result in savings to patients, employers, and health plans. Increasing the emphasis on primary care could produce large dividends throughout the health care system.

Patient factors and safety

These are some of the areas of which nurses are responsible for that are significant in ensuring patient safety in a hospital setting:

Mobility: affects patient’s ability to move independently and control body movement. This includes skin assessment of risk for pressure ulcers and infections of wounds.

Level of awareness: impairs the patient’s ability to communicate signs of healing or worsening conditions. This relates to how the patient communicates with the nurse and possible interventions related to sedation and lack of consciousness, if applicable

Critical condition: patients in critical condition require a great deal of care and should be monitored more closely for changes in condition.

Mental state: those with impaired mental ability will also require more individualized care to provide safety when they are unable to make sound decisions for themselves.

Importance of Plan of Care:

• Patients should know what the plan of care the health care staff have planned for them and if it matches their wishes.

• Cooperation is important to the patient’s plan of care.

• Patients should not adjust dressing changes, IV’s, or any type of treatment without consulting the nurse. These regimens have a purpose.

• Patients should follow the plan of care that is recommended after they leave the hospital.

Is Consumer Driven Health Care Right for You?

What the CDHC system does is shift the primary amount of responsibility of health care management to consumers. Originating in the late 1990s, consumer directed health plans were designed to have consumers take on a proactive role in medical treatments and respective expenses. Through systems like health savings accounts (HSAs) and health reimbursement accounts (HRAs) consumers became able to make their health care more affordable and accessible. One study indicated that consumers using in this system were more likely to inquire about costs, use a cheaper treatment option and follow treatment regimes more carefully. Due to the large upfront costs required, by default, this system places the burden on consumers to plan their expenses as much as possible.

Consumer driven health care is not necessarily for everyone. A concern under scrupulous study is the idea that less wealthy and educated consumers will not be able to manage a system like this. First off, they won’t have the money to utilize a plan like high deductible health insurance. On top of that, they will not take the time to make informed, appropriate choices for their situation. Costs will largely be the determining factor for deciding which treatment is used.

One thing that will make CDHC systems a success is if consumers have health products, services and pricing at their finger tips. The internet will also have a large role to play in the communication of information. With the rise of internet commerce, many online users are using the web as a tool for fact finding and education. Additionally, it is expected that a new that the internet will develop into a new marketplace for health care shopping and related services.

People are not really informed about the costs of health care maintenance. The internet will be a way to change that. When someone decides to purchase a car, they know exactly what they’ll be getting. They’ll know all the features and any “add-on” options available. When someone purchases a doctor’s visit (especially with medical issues requiring longer care regimes) they don’t know what they’ll be getting themselves into. One test could lead to another test which leads to a visit to another doctor and so on. Treatment regimes are not standardized and they cannot be fully effective if they were.

Will the consumer driven health care option be a solution to providing quality health care? As a consumer, we should be spending more time in reviewing which option suits our needs best. Everyone will have different treatment needs and expectations. Some may need the benefit of having as much health coverage as possible, but overall, we should all be looking at ways to reduce costs for the entire system.

The Department of Health and Human Services (hhs) Outlines Regulations for the Use and Dissemination of Individual Health Care Information

HIPAA, Administrative Simplification (AS) provisions, defines rules and requirement on privacy and security practices of health care information. In Title II, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) outlines regulations for the use and dissemination of individual health care information.

These rules apply to covered entities, including health plans, health care clearinghouses, such as outsourced billing companies and community health information systems and health care providers that transmit health care information in a way that is regulated by HIPAA. [Code of Federal Regulations

Title 45, Volume 1]

The Privacy Rule establishes regulations for the use and disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI). PHI is any information about health status, provision of health care, or payment for health care that can be linked to a person. This includes any part of a patient’s medical record or payment history. [Code of Federal Regulations. Title 45, Volume 1]

Security Rule deals specifically with Electronic Protected Health Information (EPHI) and requires Administrative Safeguards – policies and procedures designed to clearly show how the entity will comply with the act

Covered entities that out-source parts of their business processes to a trusted third party must ensure that their vendors also have a framework in place to comply with HIPAA requirements. Companies typically gain this assurance through clauses in the contracts stating that the vendor will meet the same data protection requirements that apply to the covered entity. Care must be taken to determine if the vendor further out-sources any data handling functions to other vendors and monitor whether appropriate contracts and controls are in place.

A contingency plan should be in place for responding to emergencies. Covered entities are responsible for backing up their data and having disaster recovery procedure. The plan should document data priority and failure analysis, testing activities, and change control procedures.

Internal audits play a key role in HIPAA compliance by reviewing operations with the goal of identifying potential security violations. Audits should be both routine and event-based.

In order to have an online backup that is HIPAA compliant you need to meet all the requirements of the Final HIPAA Security rule dated February 2003 and required after April 21, 2005.  You should ensure that a backup provider exceeds the standards set in the security rule by encrypting all data before it is sent over a secure SSL connection to the remote backup service. An effective solution is to have the Encryption Key generated by the customer and is known only to the customer and to ensure that the Key is not transmitted to the HIPAA compliant online backup server.

A HIPAA online backup provider should encrypted the data on the server with military grade encryption and not accessible to the backup provider or employees.  Ensure that the local backup client encrypts all data prior to transmission to the remote systems. Data can only be recovered by transmitting it back to the local client that decrypts the data using the encryption key.
